Back to school...back to school...

Hello,
I've got a lot of stuff on my mind right now, so once again I turn to you...
I have to get back into the habit of writing regularly...
Experts say that it takes 21 days to form/break a habit...interesting...

Super Summarized Summary and Other Redundant Redundancies:
My winter break was alright, I was not productive at all...
I got a shitload of rest though, and saw family and friends again which is always good...

For New Year's I came back into the city and hung out with the roommates, Kenny's cousin Marc, Allie, and awesome friend Erin...
The whole Times Square thing is rubbish...on TV the bal
I mean, I had fun and it was a good experience, but it would take a lot for me to do it again...
Imagine thousands of people crammed together pushing up against each other...
I lost my scarf in the scramble...
Ryan and Eddie tried jumping the barricade...big mistake...cops stopped them and they had to be escorted to the back of the crowd...then later, somehow, they managed to sprint past the crowd and they got ahead of us...
3...2...1...Happy New Year...balloons, confetti, crazy old man...

Oh yeah, my house almost burned down on New Year's Day...
My mom, being the genius that she is, accidently pressed the "clean" button on the oven...
It sucks that we keep unused pots and pans in there...
A fire broke out inside the oven when no one was home...
My dad came home and saw thick black smoke billowing from behind the house...smoke everywhere...the neighbors dialed 911...police officers, fire fighters, and a fire marshall was at the house...
I came back on January 2nd, and the house reeked of smoke, burnt metal, and melted plastic...
The fire marshall told my dad that if he came home 20 minutes later the house might have caught on fire...really really lucky...

The rest of the vacation was alright, lots of pool, lots of driving around, "cruising the pike"...

I find that when I'm away at school I miss my friends from home, when I'm home I miss my friends at college...

Classes started on the 18th...and so far they've been going well...
My calculus teacher is from Argentina and he speaks with a thick Spanish accent...he just hopped right into Calculus, I can follow it, but it would be tough for someone who's never seen Calculus before...

I have World Cultures: Russia with Professor Cohen and he's awesome, should be an interesting class...
Chem with the great Halpin, and biology is the same old same old....
The science department at NYU really needs help...
Where the hell is the tuition money going anyway?
Into the teacher's pockets, that's where....

My mother called me earlier and told me that Grandpa was in the hospital...
It scared the shit outta me...
He complained of chest pains so he was rushed to St. Vincents Hospital, on 12th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue...
I dropped everything and rushed over...
Thankfully everything was okay...they took chest X-rays and tomorrow they are supposed to put a camera down his throat...
He was doing well actually, walking around the room and talking to me...he told me to leave, but I didn't want to...gave him my number and told him to call me if he needed anything...

He was feeling okay, but I wasn't...the moment of shock, fear of losing him, I don't know...I just didn't like seeing my grandfather in a hospital bed...
But there's something about a hospital that I love...I'm not sure what it is exactly...a certain feeling I get...most people hate the hospital, but I have a weird appreciation and admiration for it...how it's always bustling, there's always something going on...doctors in white coats running around...it's almost surreal, them playing the role of God, having the power to give life and take away life...I can't explain it in words...
